Lead Desktop Support Tech

This is a Full-time position in Columbus, GA posted March 26, 2021.

Performs all duties pertaining to hardware, software, and network in accordance with defined standard operating procedures.  Supports and maintains computer systems, desktops and peripherals for wired and wireless devices.  This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring an optimal and standardized workstation performance.  Also troubleshoots problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provides end user training, support and assistance where required.  Collaborates with application and infrastructure colleagues to root cause environment failures leveraging industry standard Open Systems Interconnection. 

Job Requirements:

Minimum Education:  Associate’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Required skills:  Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision.  Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

Certifications (Preferred):  MCP, CompTIA A+, or Net+

Minimum Work Experience:  More than Five years of progressively responsible computer repair and system support experience in a healthcare (preferred) and/or business setting with demonstrated effective communication skill preferred

Essential Functions:

Serve as preceptor for junior technicians with Installations, configurations, testing, maintenance, surveillance and troubleshooting workstation hardware, networked peripheral devices and networking hardware products.

Installs, configures, tests, maintains, monitors and troubleshoots associated end user workstation software and networking software products.

The Lead Desktop Engineer will be a hands-on, senior member of the Operations support team responsible for all device support including configuration, Windows operating systems and software installations.

Performs oversight with on-site analysis, diagnosis and resolution of complex PC problems for a variety of end users, and recommends and implements corrective hardware solutions, including off-site repair, as needed.

Under the direction of manager organizes team’s productivity with end users to identify and deliver required PC service levels.

Receives and responds to incoming ticketing system requests regarding PC and/or hardware problems.

Responsible for disseminating work queue items as required by management.

Liaises with, and provides training and support to end users and staff on computer operation and other issues.

Provides analysis of current environment for ongoing hardware refresh while providing details to ensure inventory is available at established par levels.

Conducts research on and make recommendation for hardware products in support of procurement and development efforts.

Leads development and implementation of new computer projects and new hardware installations.

Assist in developing long term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future hardware and organizational hardware needs.

Collaboration with technology team members to ensure efficient operation of the organization’s desktop computing environment.
